Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki Auckland Arts Festival | 8 - 24 March
The Auckland Live Digital Stage comes alive in March as part of the 2024 Auckland Arts Festival with vibrant and exciting displays, short films, motion graphics, videos, and a myriad of visual delights that will fire your imagination and capture your attention. Featuring work from both local and international artists, all works are FREE to enjoy.

Waiata Anthems | Fri 8 - Sat 9 Mar, 12pm - 4pm

Sing along to the words from popular songs recorded in te reo Māori for Waiata Anthems.


Wild Wild Life | Fri 8 March, 6pm – 9pm, Fri 15 March, 5pm – 9pm, Fri 22 March, 6pm – 9pm

How is Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland City described outside of official city maps? What other kinds of wayfinding exist beyond our known pathways? These questions and more will be answered in a series of short artist films mapping out the city across the CBD. Wild Wild Life will launch on the Auckland Live Digital Stage, as well as in other inner-city locations, to create a walking map of the CBD. Read more.


Cascades | Sat 16 March, 8.15pm

Cascades is a live performance and audio-visual project by French artists Franck Vigroux and Antoine Schmitt inspired by the concept of waterfalls. Featuring flowing light and multiple movement sequences, and an original music score, Cascades is a meditative, impulsive, beautiful, visceral experience. Read more.


Dragon Short Film | Sun 10 March, 6.30pm – 7.30pm

Dragon is a new dance-theatre film featuring artists from Japan and Aotearoa. The appearance of the celestial Dragon invokes an ancient connection to the multiverse. This game-like cinema opens alternative pathways, expanding geometries of the cube and hexagon, morphing spatial portals through the fusion of dance, music and digital arts.


BEAM | Thu 7 – Sun 24 March from 8pm

Beam with soundtrack: 7-9 March, 15-17 March, 22-24 March at 9pm

Created by David Eversfield, eight searchlights will swirl, dance and light up the Tāmaki Makaurau skyline every night of AKLFEST2024. Come into Aotea Square with a blanket and relax with your friends gazing at the lights searching the sky above.

On selected nights there will also be a soundtrack to complement these spectacular lights. Read more.


Unitec Short Films | Sun 17 March, 6.30pm, Fri 22 March, 4.30pm, Sat 23 – Sun 24 March, 6.30pm

Come and relax in Aotea Square with your blanket and friends for free film screenings, animations and music videos created by talented UNITEC School of Creative Industries graduates, plus selected films from Ngā Pakiaka, a collective of rangatahi filmmakers aged 12 – 25 from across Aotearoa.

Featured films are: Waiting, Top 50 Jazz Classics, The Fight Marino, If it's the Last, In Mt Head, Māoriland 3 Brolesque
